ALL TRAILS TEMPORARILY CLOSED
The province is restricting travel and activities in the woods because continued hot, dry conditions have greatly increased the risk of wildfires.
The restrictions, effective as of 4 p.m., August 5th, include:
hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods are not permitted
trail systems through woods are off limits
camping is allowed only in campgrounds.
These and other measures are in place on provincial Crown and private land until October 15th or until conditions allow them to be lifted. The fine for violating the restrictions is $25,000.

What this means for the Municipality of Digby:
As of 4pm on Tuesday, August 5th, the following closures are in place:
• Acacia Valley Trail
• Vantassel Lake Trail
• Balancing Rock Trail
• Big Meadow Bog
• Althouse Lookoff
• Bear Cove Seaside Park and Art Trail
• Gulliver’s Cove
• Smiths Cove Lighthouse
• Railbed Trail
• Fundy View Trail
Barricades and signs are being deployed and all residents and visitors are being asked to comply with this Provincial order.
