DARK SKY T'RAILWAY
Stretching over 200 km from Smith’s Cove to Barrington, the Dark Sky T’Railway is one of Western Nova Scotia’s most unique outdoor experiences. This multi-use trail connects communities across the region and offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, ATVing, snowmobiling, and other outdoor adventures.
Beginning as the Get Side-Tracked project, the trail was enhanced to make it more accessible, engaging, and connected to local communities and businesses. The Dark Sky T’Railway is also part of the Trans Canada Trail, helping showcase Western Nova Scotia as a destination for outdoor recreation and adventure.
The trail takes its name from our spectacular night skies. With exceptionally dark skies and breathtaking views of the stars, the region was recognized in 2014 as North America’s first Starlight Reserve.
