Special COVID Precautions - UPDATE: May 27, 2020

5/27/2020

Trails and the outdoors are important for our mental and physical health but we need to remain vigilant about reducing opportunities for the virus to spread.

Balancing Rock Trail is now open but there are special precautions for that special trail:
  • Look ahead before entering boardwalks, stairs or other narrow sections of trail. Take turns and allow others to exit before entering.
  • Handrails should be used with caution. Please practice good hygiene including - avoid touching your face; wash hands before and after using trail.

Here is some information to keep in mind generally while getting your dose of fresh air and soaking up the sunshine.

  1. Trails in the Digby area are open, although this could change with very little notice.
  2. If you are not feeling well, you should remain at home and rest.
  3. Maintain physical distance of 2m ( 6 ft) from others at all times. If you’re running or cycling, and meet others, please slow down or stop so that everyone can safely pass. If you stop for a rest, please step off the trail to leave room for others to pass.
  4. Only visit trails and open spaces for exercise and fresh air but not to socialize – only hangout with people in your household unit.
  5. Avoid all playground equipment, benches, picnic tables or any surfaces that others might touch and leave the virus on. Please take your waste home with you.
  6. If the trailhead, trail or open space is busy when you arrive, please consider leaving and coming back when there are less people around. Try to recreate in the quieter hours such as early morning or evening.
  7. Wash those hands and disinfect surfaces you touch. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. Please do not spit.
  8. Access outdoor spaces as near to your neighbourhood as possible. Limit driving as much as possible.
  9. Minimize extreme-risk, high-consequence activities until our Emergency Rooms and First Responders have more capacity to handle your mistakes.
  10. Please pay attention to guideline/signage that is posted at any trails or open spaces for special direction, advice or rules for that space.

Get your dose of fresh air and exercise and then please #staytheblazeshome.
